MARBELLA, Spain.— Premios Juventud 2026 opened a new chapter in its history by holding its first European edition at the Starlite Auditorium in Marbella. The gala, broadcast Thursday, September 3, across TelevisaUnivision platforms, brought together artists from Latin America, the United States and Spain in a ceremony that combined music, pop culture, television, digital creators and special recognitions.

Under the theme “Conéctate al Vibe,” the awards turned Spain’s Costa del Sol into a meeting point for the Spanish-language music industry. The evening was hosted by Alejandra Espinoza, Clarissa Molina and Jesús Vázquez, and featured performances by Farruko, Juan Magán, DJ Rous, Marc Anthony, Yandel, Camilo, Ángela Aguilar, Christian Nodal, Wisin, Ana Mena, Morat, Quevedo and La Oreja de Van Gogh.

Antonio Banderas, the Emotional Centerpiece of the Gala

Although the ceremony was dominated by musical performances and results across 50 categories, one of the most talked-about moments was the tribute to Antonio Banderas. The Málaga-born actor received the Agent of Change recognition for his commitment to education, social action and community development, an honor also presented to Marc Anthony, Yandel and La Oreja de Van Gogh.

Banderas’ presence carried particular weight because of the gala’s setting. Born in Málaga and long connected to Marbella, the actor appeared as a natural figure to accompany Premios Juventud’s arrival in Andalusia. On the red carpet, he said he felt “at home” and compared Marbella to Miami for its cosmopolitan, summer-driven atmosphere and openness to cultural exchange.

His speech gave the evening a more reflective tone. From the stage, Banderas delivered a message to young people about freedom, the need to stay informed and the importance of not remaining on the surface of social media. His remarks connected the artistic recognition with a broader reflection on culture, critical thinking and individual responsibility in an era shaped by technology.

A Night of Music, Awards and International Expansion

On the music side, the gala produced a wide distribution of awards. Shakira, Aitana, Alejandro Fernández, Romeo Santos and Prince Royce were among the most awarded artists, each receiving three honors. Bad Bunny, Karol G, Beéle, Bizarrap, Carín León and Grupo Frontera also stood out among the winners of the edition.

The ceremony also served as a showcase for transatlantic collaboration. The opening number, “Marbella Nights,” performed by Farruko, Juan Magán and DJ Rous, set the tone for an evening that blended urban sounds, Spanish pop, salsa, bachata, Mexican music and digital-first acts. The result was a gala designed to expand Premios Juventud’s reach beyond its traditional audiences in the United States and Latin America.

Banderas as a Bridge Between Andalusia and Latin Culture

Beyond the spectacle, Antonio Banderas’ appearance captured the symbolic meaning of this edition: a Latin awards show crossing the Atlantic and finding, in an internationally recognized Andalusian artist, a figure capable of connecting place, identity and legacy. His recognition as an Agent of Change celebrated not only his career, but also his cultural influence and his defense of education and freedom as tools for new generations.
